Carolina leads Growald Climate Fund’s work to address systemic bottlenecks to finance renewable energy at scale in developing countries.
Prior to joining Growald, Carolina was the finance lead on the UN Secretary-General’s climate action team, pushing for reform of multilateral development banks, including increased risk-taking, renewable energy finance, and incentives reform. She also led initiatives to scale up adaptation finance and improve net-zero pledges by financial institutions. Throughout her career, Carolina has advised governments and financial institutions in Latin America on climate, including while on secondment to the Chilean Ministry of Finance and Peruvian Ministry of Environment. She also advised the Green Climate Fund’s Private Sector Facility and the development bank of El Salvador in their accreditation process to the Green Climate Fund. Earlier in her career, Carolina worked for Colombia’s Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she supported the Rio+20 process and the adoption of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Carolina is a lawyer who earned her JD at Universidad EAFIT in Medellín, Colombia. She also holds a master’s degree in development economics and international environmental policy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University.
