Sasanka Thilakasiri | Director, Venture Portfolio
Sas leads Growald Climate Fund’s venture pillar, charged with delivering a high-impact portfolio of new and early-stage organizations poised for outsized, catalytic impact. In addition to a thematic focus on just energy transitions, he leads GCF’s work on state-owned enterprises in the power sector.
Prior to GCF, Sas was at Oxfam America where he served as energy policy lead in the climate change and energy team, with a particular focus on international finance, energy poverty, and just energy transitions. Before that he was Oxfam International’s economic justice policy lead for international financial institutions, leading advocacy efforts toward the World Bank Group and IMF on climate, energy, land, and agriculture. Prior to Oxfam, he worked on domestic climate policy, industrial energy efficiency, and distributed rural off-grid renewable energy projects, as well as UNFCCC negotiations, at The Energy and Resources Institute in New Delhi. With his background in industrial air emissions and water engineering, he has also worked in the Australian mining sector.
An Australian native, dog lover, politics junkie, and science-fiction tragic, Sas is also a chemical engineer with a master’s in environmental engineering.
